Una Announces 2010 Film Festival Award Winners

FLORENCE, Ala. - A Best of Show for the Norwegian film "The Frost" was among the 14 awards presented tonight at the 2010 George Lindsey UNA Film Festival Awards Ceremony. The movie, screened in the Professional Feature Narrative category, explores a couple's collapsing marriage, haunted by the ghostly presence of their deceased young son. The 2010 Clyde Sappo Black Sweet Home Alabama Award, which honors a film shot at least partially in Alabama, went to Brad Thompson for "Collecting Chloe." "Collecting Chloe" had screened in the Shoals Spotlight category. This year's film festival also honored Dr. William G. Cale, University of North Alabama president, with a Special Golden Lion Award for his dedication to the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival. Golden Lion Award Short Screenplay "Culling Hens" Professional Golden Lion Award Full-Length Narrative "The Frost" Professional Golden Lion Award Short Documentary "I Am a Man: From Memphis, A Lesson in Life" Professional Golden Lion Award Short Narrative "Interpretation" Professional Golden Lion Award Full-Length Documentary "Cody" Student Golden Lion Award Narrative "One Day" Student Golden Lion Award Documentary "Sustaining Life" Young Filmmaker Golden Lion Award "Crippled" Golden Lion Award Vanguard "Elephants" Golden Lion Award Shoals Spotlight "Collecting Chloe" The George Lindsey UNA Film Festival is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 in part by UNA alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey's own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show."
